In August 2024, Bacău County welcomed 23,934 tourists, with 92.1% being Romanians and 7.9% foreigners. Compared to August 2023, the number of arrivals rose by 5.4%, equivalent to an increase of 1,234 people. Additionally, compared to July 2024, arrivals saw a 15.5% increase, bringing in 3,218 more visitors.
In August 2024, the average length of stay was 2.3 nights per person, slightly up from 2.2 nights per person in August 2023 but slightly below the July 2024 average of 2.4 nights per person. Reviewing the entire January-August 2024 period, Bacău attracted 126,925 tourists, with 92.6% being Romanians and 7.4% foreign visitors. Compared to the same period in 2023, arrivals increased by 4.0%, primarily due to a rise in domestic tourists (+3.3%) and a significant increase in international visitors (+14.5%).
For the January-August 2024 period, the average stay for tourists in Bacău County was 2.0 nights per person, similar to the 2.1 nights per person recorded for the same period in 2023. However, foreign tourists had an average stay of 2.7 nights per person, slightly up from 2.6 nights per person the previous year.
These results indicate a positive trend in Bacău’s tourism sector, with a growing number of visitors and more efficient use of accommodation capacities. Growth in spa tourism and a preference for bungalow accommodations suggest that Bacău is becoming increasingly attractive for both domestic and foreign tourists.
