Founded in Chișinău in 1989, the Plăieșii Ensemble comprises 14 members, including 7 vocalists and 7 instrumentalists. Their repertoire is rooted in authentic folklore, featuring traditional songs and dances specific to the Bessarabian region. Through their artistic activity, the ensemble contributes to the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage.
A significant part of Plăieșii’s repertoire consists of men’s group caroling, which was recognized in December 2013 as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This marked the first cultural element from the Bessarabian region to receive UNESCO protection, with the Plăieșii Ensemble playing a crucial role in its recognition.
