On the morning of November 29, at around 4:30 AM, a severe traffic accident occurred on DN2-E85 near Sascut, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to five others. The incident unfolded under dramatic circumstances, involving a seven-seater Dacia Logan MCV and a 3.5-ton utility vehicle used for meat transport.
Circumstances of the Accident
According to information provided by authorities, the car, driven by a 46-year-old man, was traveling from Adjud to Bacău. At some point, it reportedly veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the utility vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man.
Victims’ Toll
Tragically, three individuals in the car—a 46-year-old man, a 55-year-old man, and a 45-year-old woman—died instantly. Five others, aged between 8 and 43, sustained severe injuries and were urgently transported to the hospital. Among the injured were three minors, one of whom was unconscious at the scene.
Emergency Response
Rescue teams quickly arrived at the accident site. The County Emergency Inspectorate (ISU) mobilized:
- A fire truck with water and foam (ASAS) and extraction teams from Bacău Detachment and Adjud Section;
- SMURD and SAJ ambulances from Bacău and Racaciuni;
- A multi-victim transport vehicle (ATPVM);
- The deputy commander of the Bacău Detachment, using a mission vehicle.
The injured were transported to the hospital with severe polytraumas.
Ongoing Investigation
The utility vehicle driver was tested for alcohol consumption, with the result being negative. However, he was taken to the hospital for biological sample collection. Police have opened a criminal case for manslaughter and bodily harm by negligence, continuing investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

The tragedy on DN2-E85 once again highlights the dangers of traffic, especially under low-visibility conditions and on busy roads. Authorities reiterate the importance of following traffic rules and adopting a defensive driving approach to prevent such tragic events.
