On November 11, traffic officers from the Bacău Road Service detected the young woman speeding in Dumbrava with a radar device, clocking her at 137 km/h.
She was fined 1,485 lei for the offense, and as an additional penalty, her driver’s license was suspended for 120 days. She was issued a temporary certificate, which does not permit driving.
Drivers are reminded that exceeding legal speed limits incurs the following penalties:
- 10–20 km/h over the limit: 2–3 demerit points
- 21–30 km/h over the limit: 4–5 demerit points
- 31–40 km/h over the limit: 6–8 demerit points
- 41–50 km/h over the limit: 9–20 demerit points
- More than 50 km/h over the limit: 9–20 demerit points + a 90-day license suspension with a temporary 15-day driving permit
- More than 70 km/h over the limit: 9–20 demerit points + a 120-day license suspension without a temporary driving permit.
